STP simply changes what happens next — instead of mailing those card details to your office, the card credentials and remittance data are transmitted electronically for automatic processing and deposit. STP is focused on virtual card reimbursements, covering both insurer (B2B) payments and patient payments made through payer-linked portals, including HSA/FSA spend.  The current model is built in collaboration with Optum Financial, which processes remittances for HSA custodians like Health Equity, Fidelity, and WEX, as well as insurers including United Healthcare and UMR.

Funds are typically deposited directly into your bank account within one business day of claim approval — compared to the 30–90 days that mailed virtual card workflows can take. 

The virtual card is processed automatically, with no manual keying required, so the lag between "approved" and "deposited" shrinks dramatically from the moment you enroll.

No replacement needed. STP is intentionally designed to run behind the scenes, handling virtual card processing and data normalization on the Forte side.
